The team of Heal the World Behavioral Services attended the 4th annual Dan Marino Foundation WalkAbout Autism & Expo on Saturday, January 25th, 2014 at the Sun Life Stadium in Miami, Florida.

The DMF WalkAbout Autism & Expo is a family fun walk & expo event that brings thousands of individuals together to generate autism awareness, promote acceptance and raise funds for the local autism community. Proceeds raised through this effort support local South Florida organizations, including hundreds of participating local schools as well as The Dan Marino Foundation. What is really important to me is that all money raised here, stays here in South Florida!

IMG_0021_2Autism is the fastest-growing developmental disorder, and according to the Center for Disease Control, 1 in 88 children in the United States have autism. Despite some promising discoveries, the cause of autism is unknown and a cure does not exist. Therefore, research is crucial! Every 20 minutes another child is diagnosed with autism. Autism usually appears in early childhood, before the age of 3. Though symptoms and severity vary, autism affects a child’s ability to communicate and interact with others. Intensive, early treatment can make a big difference in the lives of many children with autism and enable them to achieve independence later in life. Currently, 90% of adults with autism are unemployed which is a startling statistic! That is why I am asking for your support.

Therefore, on behalf of the Heal the World Team, we would like to thank you for donating and supporting us as we walked for all of the kids that have touched our life one way or another!
